Metrics and targets

S2-5 – Targets related to managing material negative impacts, advancing positive impacts, and managing material risks and opportunities

Group Procurement at Lufthansa Group is committed to accounting for material impacts, risks and opportunities related to workers in the value chain when developing relevant procurement processes. The purpose behind this is to identify potential human rights, environment-related and compliance risks and violations in the supply chain in order to prevent, minimise or eliminate these risks and violations through appropriate measures. Targets are defined on the basis of the previous risk assessment as well as complaints received via the complaints procedure. Depending on the case, insights gained from this process feed into the continuous development of the risk management system. The Lufthansa Group did not set itself any quantitative targets for the reporting year, since it focused on the implementation and stabilisation of measures.

The overarching targets have been broken down and specified for relevant areas. These include the implementation of a risk assessment for existing suppliers using the risk assessment system, as well as continuously updating supplier questionnaires based on regulatory requirements and insights. Workers in the value chain and their legitimate representatives are not currently directly involved in the process of identifying and monitoring targets. However, information regarding their situation is taken into consideration via information sources such as risk assessment data, warnings or the whistleblower system. This information is incorporated in the process for defining targets and identifying improvement measures.
