Austrian Airlines continues to expand its onboard services

Austrian Airlines has further optimised its passenger offering in Business Class on long-haul routes. Passengers can choose what they want to have for breakfast from a “Kreuzerlfrühstück” menu. This lets them enjoy even more individuality and a more personalised service.

Austrian Airlines also expanded its service offering in Business Class by training selected flight attendants to become Austrian Wine Experts, to show passengers the diversity and quality of Austrian wines.

Sought-after trophy received at World Airline Awards

In June 2025, Austrian Airlines was singled out for its outstanding quality of service and received the prestigious “Best Airline Staff in Europe” award at the Skytrax World Airlines Awards 2025.

Austrian Airlines fits AeroSHARK to Boeing 777 fleet

Austrian Airlines’ first Boeing 777-200ER fitted with AeroSHARK surface technology took off in January 2025. Three more aircraft of this type were equipped in the first quarter of 2025. Changes in the Austrian Airlines Executive Board

As of 1 February 2025, Michael Trestl stepped down from his role as Chief Commercial Officer Austrian Airlines to take up his new position as ITA Implementation Officer. The remaining members of the Executive Board will take charge of his tasks as part of a new distribution of responsibilities.

Since 15 September 2025, Stefan-Kenan Scheib has been Austrian Airlines’ new Chief Operating Officer. He has replaced Francesco Sciortino, who joined the Board of Lufthansa Airlines. Stefan-Kenan Scheib was previously Head of Flight Operations at SWISS.

Passenger numbers and load factor up in the reporting year

With 15.0 million passengers, Austrian Airlines carried 3% more customers in the reporting year than in the previous year (previous year: 14.6 million). Capacity increased 4% year-on-year. Sales likewise grew by 4% in comparison with the previous year. At 81.6%, the passenger load factor was 0.3 percentage points higher year-on-year (previous year: 81.3%). Yields fell by 2.0%. Traffic revenue grew by 3% to EUR 2,433m (previous year: EUR 2,360m).

Revenue up by 3% year-on-year, Adjusted EBIT up to EUR 81m

Revenue at Austrian Airlines climbed by 3% to EUR 2,541m in the 2025 financial year due to higher traffic (previous year: EUR 2,457m). Operating income increased year-on-year by 2% to EUR 2,603m (previous year: EUR 2,542m).

In the 2025 financial year, operating expenses of EUR 2,523m were 2% higher than in the previous year (previous year: EUR 2,467m). The cost of materials and services climbed by 3% (EUR +38m), mainly as a result of higher fees and charges (EUR +30m). Staff costs were 8% (EUR +39m) higher than in the previous year.

Austrian Airlines’ Adjusted EBIT increased by 7% year-on-year in the 2025 financial year to EUR 81m (previous year: EUR 76m). Earnings were also adversely affected by the Middle East conflict (EUR 31m). The Adjusted EBIT margin rose by 0.1 percentage points to 3.2% (previous year: 3.1%) in the reporting year. EBIT climbed by 15% to EUR 84m (previous year: EUR 73m).
